About the Ladies Auxiliary
The Independence Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary has proudly supported the South Blooming Grove Fire District, Independence Fire Company, and the surrounding community since its formation on June 6, 1975. Established alongside the department during its earliest days, the Auxiliary has remained a vital part of the organization’s success by providing volunteer service, fundraising, and community support for nearly five decades.
While the firefighters respond to emergencies, the Ladies Auxiliary works tirelessly behind the scenes to strengthen the department through fundraising, member support, community outreach, and countless volunteer hours. Their dedication reflects the same spirit of service and commitment that has defined Independence Fire Company since its founding.
Our Mission
The mission of the Independence Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary is simple:
To support the firefighters, department members, and the community through volunteer service.
Whether assisting at emergency scenes, organizing fundraisers, preparing meals for firefighters, or giving back to local families in need, every member shares a common goal—helping strengthen both the fire department and the community it proudly serves.
Supporting the Fire Department
The Ladies Auxiliary plays an important role in supporting the firefighters of Independence Fire Company throughout the year.
Their efforts include:
- Providing meals and refreshments for firefighters during extended emergencies and department functions.
- Assisting with fire department events and community activities.
- Supporting department social functions and member appreciation events.
- Helping organize special celebrations and holiday gatherings.
- Providing annual financial contributions to the fire department through fundraising efforts for equipment, gear, and other operational needs.
Their commitment allows firefighters to remain focused on protecting the community while knowing they have the support of dedicated volunteers behind them.
Fundraising for a Stronger Community
Throughout the year, the Ladies Auxiliary organizes a variety of successful fundraising events that benefit both the fire department and the local community.

- Designer Bag Bingo
- Tricky Tray Auctions
- Penny Socials
- Paint & Sip Events
- Seasonal Fundraisers
- Community Raffles
Funds raised help purchase equipment and support department needs while also allowing the Auxiliary to assist community members facing hardship.
Every event represents another opportunity for neighbors to come together in support of their volunteer fire department.
Community & Member Events
The Ladies Auxiliary helps foster the family atmosphere that has always been part of Independence Fire Company.
Throughout the year they organize events including:
- Children’s Holiday Parties
- Friendsgiving Celebrations
- Annual Men’s Holiday Dinner
- Traditional Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner
- Community Outreach Activities
- Department Appreciation Events
These gatherings strengthen the relationships between firefighters, their families, and the community they serve.
A Tradition of Service
Since 1975, the Ladies Auxiliary has proudly represented Independence Fire Company at community events, memorial ceremonies, and parades throughout Orange County.
Members traditionally march wearing:
- Red dresses with gold buttons and matching hats
- Pink Auxiliary shirts during selected events and fundraisers
Their presence reflects the pride, professionalism, and tradition of the South Blooming Grove Fire District.

The Ladies Auxiliary was founded with 20 charter members.

Nearly fifty years later, the organization continues to honor the vision and dedication of these founding members.
